MogoCrypto

Make buying and selling understandable from start to finish. I led research and design iteration for MogoCrypto, working with the UX Lead, Art Director, writer, engineering, and legal partners.

We brought Bitcoin into the existing Mogo account, connecting funding, transactions, and withdrawals across web, Android, and iOS.

Product focus

Design around the complete transaction

We focused on the practical tasks around buying and selling, including funding the account and withdrawing money. Making those paths understandable was central to the product direction.

MogoCrypto also had to fit the existing app and web dashboards. I worked within the shared design framework so a new product could feel connected to the rest of the account.

Transaction paths

Two directions through the same account

Buying and selling had to connect to the money moving into and out of MogoCrypto

Buying: enter an amount, review the order, then confirm the completed purchase. The balance stays in view while the person decides.

Selling uses the same sequence. The review screen makes the amount and fees visible before confirmation.

Research and iteration

Use prototypes to find where understanding breaks down

I conducted qualitative studies and tested prototypes with user panels, using InVision and Proto.io to explore the dashboard and key journeys.

We used what people said and did to refine the experience, sharing findings with design, product, legal, and engineering partners. The prototypes gave us a concrete basis for discussing changes to the flow and the surrounding product requirements.

Interaction design

Keep the account state visible

The interface brought together Bitcoin price, holdings, transaction activity, and the actions available from the account. Across the designs, the task was to keep those different kinds of information understandable.

I worked with the wider design team to refine content and presentation, while legal and engineering input shaped what the product could offer and how it could be delivered.

Launch

A new product within a familiar account

MogoCrypto launched across web, Android, and iOS in 2018. Mogo's launch material introduced it as a way for members to buy and sell Bitcoin through their existing account.

My contribution connected user research, iterative prototypes, and cross-platform design to that launch.
